Dr. Gabriel Hendricks is a patent agent in the Intellectual Property group in the firm’s Boston office. Gabriel’s work involves patent prosecution in the fields of biotechnology, including cancer biology and therapeutics, immunology, small molecule therapeutics, and research tools.

Prior to joining Burns & Levinson, Gabriel was a patent agent at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, where he managed all aspects of WHOI’s patent portfolio across various technologies, including U.S. and foreign patent applications for mechanical, chemical, software, and biology inventions. Gabriel was a postdoctoral fellow at Brown University and the Rhode Island Hospital, where he worked on new antimicrobial small molecule therapeutics against multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, focusing on the efficacy and safety profile of direct antimicrobials as well as immunomodulatory compounds.

He received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Research from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. His research focused on the immunology of RNA and DNA viruses as well as antiviral therapeutics against these viruses. At UMass, he worked on novel decoy liposomes that could be produced on-demand with different viral receptors, thereby acting as a molecular sink and infection dead-end. Gabriel has authored and presented scientific publications in the fields of viral immunology, antivirals, antimicrobials, antifungals, and neuroscience.
